I h8 pumping 🙃

I absolutely hate pumping. I would rather just whip out a titty and call it a day. But can’t because my son is having latching issues or something is going on. I def need to get to the bottom of this issue because pumping is not for me. So here goes a journey of fixing my 10 week old latch.

Using a high-quality breast pump, such as the Spectra 70, can make a difference with efficient milk expression, but it doesn't replace the natural bond and effectiveness of direct breastfeeding. One important step in resolving latch issues is patience and gentle persistence. I found that consulting a lactation consultant provided tailored guidance on positioning and techniques which helped immensely. Sometimes, babies need time to adjust or overcome temporary oral discomfort. Keeping track of your baby's feeding patterns and cues can also offer clues about latch problems—are they fussing, pulling off, or not swallowing effectively? Using breast compressions during feeds can encourage milk flow and support better latch stability. Another tip is to create a calm and comfortable feeding environment, minimizing distractions for both you and your baby. Skin-to-skin contact and frequent, shorter feedings may ease the process and gradually improve the latch. Though pumping may feel like a burden, it can serve as a helpful backup when direct breastfeeding is temporarily challenging. Ensuring your pump settings are optimal for comfort and milk flow, and maintaining pump hygiene, contributes to a better pumping experience. Remember, every breastfeeding journey is unique. Don't hesitate to seek support from healthcare providers and connect with other moms who share similar experiences. With time, patience, and the right strategies, many find that latch issues improve, and reliance on pumping decreases, allowing for more enjoyable and fulfilling breastfeeding.
