day in the life of my cat <3

You know, every day with my sweet Puddin feels like a gift, especially since she quite literally showed up on my doorstep during a blizzard back in 2017. It's truly amazing how a little furball can choose you and completely change your life. We had a wonderfully lazy day recently, which perfectly sums up her personality, but if you're curious about what a typical day in the life of Puddin looks like, I'd love to share! My day usually kicks off around 9:30 AM, and trust me, Puddin is right there with me, often performing her signature "BIG STRETCH" that seems to span half the living room. After a good morning stretch and some breakfast (she's very particular about her kibble!), she usually finds a sunny spot for her first nap of the day. Seriously, how do cats sleep so much? It's a mystery! Mid-morning might involve a bit of exploration around the house. Puddin loves to investigate new smells and sounds. One of her absolute favorite spots is her secret hideout behind the curtains. Sometimes, just for fun, she'll jump out and scare me when I walk by – it's her little game, and honestly, it makes me laugh every time! Despite her uniquely short legs (we still don't know why she's like that, but we adore it!), she's incredibly agile and quick, making these surprise attacks quite effective. Around lunchtime, after another quick snooze, it's often play time! This is definitely one of her favorite things to do. While she has a basket full of toys, her absolute favorite toy, other than chasing dust bunnies, has to be the laser pointer. The way she stalks that little red dot, her tail swishing, is just pure entertainment. We'll have a good 15-20 minutes of sprinting and pouncing, which usually tires us both out! The afternoon usually transitions into more napping, perhaps on a comfy blanket or curled up on my lap if I'm working. She's the best companion. As dusk approaches, she gets a second wind. This is when she often sits by the window, observing the birds and squirrels outside, chattering softly to herself. It’s like her own personal nature documentary. As the evening winds down, after a hearty dinner, it's often movie time. I love snuggling up next to her on the couch, purring contentedly as we watch something together. She's not really watching the screen, of course, but just having her warm presence beside me is the best. And then, finally, when I start getting sleepy, it's time for bed. Puddin usually finds her spot – often at the foot of my bed or sometimes even curled up in her own little bed – and settles in for the night. It’s these simple moments that make having a cat so special. Every day is an adventure, even the lazy ones, and I wouldn't trade a single moment with my sweet Puddin for anything. She truly is my little shadow and the best rescue cat a person could ask for.
