Kitchen Hack I Swear By 🔥
Tried the store-bought garlic/onion paste… but it always tastes a bit off 😬
As someone working full-time, I really needed a quick, easy ways to prep food ingredient, and bulk prepping them on the weekend has been my tried and true method for fuss-free meals on the weekdays.
I usually do a big batch of a few onions and garlic and blend them with my food processor (separately). Then I add them to a ziplock bag and make them as flat as possible! You can also use a ruler to make little squares so they’ll be easier to break off in fixed portions… but I’m too lazy for that. 😅
It lasts a month and I just break off what I need when cooking —no peeling, no weird aftertaste, still full of flavour 🔥🧄🧅
If you're someone who craves convenience without compromising on taste, this garlic and onion prep technique is truly a lifesaver. One tip I’ve found helpful is freezing the flattened ziplock bags on a flat surface to ensure even portions and quicker thawing when you need them. Also, using separate containers or bags for garlic and onions helps keep flavors distinct, so your dishes come out tasting just right. Another trick I enjoy is adding a small amount of olive oil before sealing the bags to help preserve freshness and make scooping out the paste easier. Over time, you'll develop your own rhythm—perhaps prepping other frequently used ingredients like ginger or chillies alongside. This weekend prep strategy saves me so much time during hectic weeks, and the flavor boost beats any store-bought paste I’ve tried. Truly a kitchen hack worth sticking to!
