Art journaling
A few art journaling spreads ive done recently.
The biggest tip I regret not doing on the first one is gluing pages together!!!
When I first started art journaling, I often overlooked the importance of preparing the pages properly. One major lesson I learned was the necessity of gluing pages together to prevent bleed-through, especially when using watercolors or markers. This simple step not only protects your next pages but also gives your journal a more durable and polished feel. Art journaling allows a unique blend of creativity and personal expression, combining visual art and written words. When designing your spreads, consider layering elements such as magazine cutouts, paint, pen sketches, and handwritten notes to add depth and emotion to your pages. Experimenting with different textures and adhesives can significantly enhance your journal’s tactile experience. Incorporating music lyrics, like those seen in some of the spreads I’ve done with references to songs by Shinedown or unique phrases like "Love you!" can also inspire your storytelling. These elements create an intimate narrative that reflects your mood and experiences. Remember to take your time and embrace imperfections—they add character to your art journal. Use your journal as a safe space to experiment, express feelings, and celebrate creativity. Over time, you'll develop your distinctive style and techniques, including effective page preparation and mixed media application, ensuring every spread tells a compelling story.
