I Got Into College for Creative Studies
I got into my dream college!! I mentioned this in a previous post but I didn’t have the acceptance letter yet. Well it arrived today!! I’ll be majoring in illustration!! I start this fall. #artstudent #igotin #firstgenerationstudent #college #artcollege #artstudent
Okay, so getting that acceptance letter from College for Creative Studies (CCS) was genuinely a dream come true! For anyone out there dreaming of an art education, especially in creative studies, I wanted to share a bit more about what this journey has been like and what comes next. I've always admired CCS – their focus on hands-on learning and preparing students for real-world creative careers really stood out to me. Plus, seeing 'Detroit must be the place!! CCS' on some of their materials instantly made me feel a connection to their vibrant community and the city's creative spirit. It just felt like the right fit for my artistic ambitions. I remember holding that yellow card with 'CONGRATS!' emblazoned on it, and it just felt so surreal. The formal letter outlining my admission for Fall 2024 for Illustration felt like all the hard work and countless hours spent on my portfolio finally paid off. It's a huge moment, especially as a first-generation student, proving that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible. For those wondering what happens after you get accepted into an art college, the next steps are crucial. My letter outlined logging into the admissions portal – which was super exciting to explore and get a first peek at what my student life might look like – and making an enrollment deposit. It definitely makes it all feel real, committing to your future program and securing your spot. If you're an aspiring art student, especially looking into creative studies programs, my biggest advice is to really focus on developing a strong, authentic portfolio. Show off your unique style, your process, and your passion. Don't be afraid to apply to your dream schools! Research the specific programs, like Illustration, to see if they align with your artistic goals and what kind of work their alumni produce. I'm so thrilled to be majoring in Illustration. From what I’ve seen, it's about developing a strong visual language, storytelling through art, and learning various techniques from traditional to digital. I'm imagining sessions filled with figure drawing, conceptual art, and mastering software. It's not just about drawing pretty pictures; it's about communicating ideas effectively and bringing stories to life visually. The prospect of diving deep into this field is incredibly exciting. I'm already counting down the days until this fall. I'm excited for the challenges, the growth, and connecting with fellow art students who share the same drive. Even the little things, like the vibrant sticker with 'DETROIT MUST BE THE PLACE CCS' I received, add to the excitement and the anticipation of this new chapter. Keep an eye out for more updates on my art school journey! And if you're holding your breath for an art college acceptance, just know that dedication and passion can really open doors.

Congratulations!!!
