Why it’s difficult to be a quiet person growing up

Vulnerability

🤍 My Story: People would tell me that the reason guys don’t like me is because I’m quiet, that’s the only reason people say. I would try to change as well. People would tell me to get out of my shell. No matter how many times other people would tell me that it’s not bad to be quiet, I think about those times being rejected and the reason behind it. I never really been into a real relationship that I’m ashamed of it.

🤍 How I Felt: I felt extremely depressed because I couldn’t be who I was without social norms. I wanted to be who I was but society would make me feel that I wasn’t good enough. I feel ashamed for not experiencing much about relationships

🤍 My Takeaways: I’m ashamed of being a quiet person

... Read moreGrowing up as a quiet person can bring about numerous challenges that affect self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. Many individuals who are naturally introverted or quiet face societal pressure to conform to more extroverted norms, leading to feelings of inadequacy. From being labeled as anti-social to facing repeated questions about their silence, quiet individuals often grapple with deep-seated vulnerability. Moreover, the misconception that being quiet equates to being unfriendly or unapproachable can exacerbate feelings of loneliness. This negative perception can hinder opportunities for forming meaningful connections, resulting in a cycle of self-doubt and shame. Building self-acceptance is vital for quiet individuals. Acknowledging that silence can be a strength rather than a weakness is key to embracing one’s identity. Understanding that everyone has unique social traits can foster a more inclusive perspective, allowing quiet people to shine in their own ways. Many quiet individuals find solace in their introspective nature, often thriving in creative or reflective pursuits. This article sheds light on the importance of self-acceptance and encourages readers to embrace their authentic selves in a world that favors noise over quiet.
