Can you imagine taking a 911 call? Whew.. 😩

On that note I’m still smiling thinking about this one 🪷

Huge thank you for connecting me with this great opportunity to be a part of the Buncombe County 911 Appreciation & Wellness Week 💛

Thank you to everyone who showed up, showed love, and took time for themselves.

We came together to celebrate and support such an amazing team during public safety telecommunications week.

The yoga, stretching, and mobility sessions were all about slowing things down, releasing tension, and giving your body what it’s been asking for.

I loved seeing people drop in, take a breath, stretch it out, and just BE for a moment.

👏🏾 mats down, music flowing, bodies loosening up—exactly what everyone needed.

Thank you for trusting me to create a calm, safe space and for allowing me to pour into you the way you all pour into others every single day.

Until next time 💫

Public safety telecommunicators often hold the weight of emergencies — answering 911 calls requires not just technical skill but emotional resilience. Incorporating yoga, stretching, and mobility sessions into their week provided a vital opportunity to release built-up tension. From my experience guiding similar wellness activities, I’ve noticed that even brief sessions of mindful movement can significantly reduce stress and enhance focus. For 911 operators, who must maintain sharp attention while managing unpredictable situations, these sessions are more than just physical exercise—they’re an essential mental reset. What struck me during this wellness week was seeing participants actively embrace a pause. Mats down, music flowing, and bodies loosening up created an atmosphere where people felt safe to relax and recharge. This sense of community and collective self-care is especially meaningful when the everyday demands of the job can feel isolating or overwhelming. If you ever find yourself in a high-pressure role, consider adopting some of these practices. Starting with simple stretching breaks can help reduce muscle stiffness and calm the nervous system. Pairing movement with deep, intentional breathing—as practiced during yoga—helps restore focus and emotional balance. Moreover, events like these highlight the importance of supporting the mental health needs of first responders and emergency personnel. Wellness initiatives not only benefit individuals but also strengthen the entire team’s resilience and effectiveness. It serves as a reminder to us all to check in with ourselves and prioritize our well-being, especially during challenging times. Incorporating yoga and stretching into your routine doesn’t require special equipment or a studio. Even a few minutes at your desk or at home can bring noticeable relief and clarity. Just like the incredible Buncombe County 911 team, giving yourself permission to slow down and care for your body and mind will help you show up stronger for everything life asks of you.
