Super Easy 4 ingredient Banana Pudding
Banana Pudding-The Easy Way!
I love this version because it’s so easy to make. It’s such a great party dessert because you can make it ahead and keep it in the fridge.
You can also add a scoop or two or protein powder if you’d like to make it a little healthier!
All you need:
16 oz whipped topping
1 box vanilla wafer cookies
5oz vanilla or banana flavored instant pudding mix, prepared.
4 large bananas, sliced
Make the pudding as directed on the package.
Gently fold in the whip cream.
Line a round pan with half the vanilla wafers, top with half the banana slices, then evenly pour half the pudding mix over it all.
Repeat layers.
Gently crumble a few cookies on top.
Refrigerate at least an hour before serving.
For an upgraded version, you can also add a tablespoon of vanilla, 14 oz of sweetened condensed milk, and 2 cups heavy cream to the pudding mix and blend well before adding the whipped cream. But you definitely don’t need to add the extra ingredients, it’s still amazing.
One of the best things about this banana pudding recipe is how versatile it can be. While the classic version calls for a box of vanilla wafer cookies, instant vanilla or banana pudding mix, whipped topping, and fresh bananas, you can easily adapt the recipe to suit different tastes or dietary needs. For instance, I found that using JELLO French vanilla instant pudding mix adds a rich, creamy flavor that really elevates the dessert without much extra effort. This brand has the artificial flavor that mimics homemade vanilla custard, making the pudding satisfyingly delicious. If you're looking to make the pudding a bit healthier, adding a scoop of protein powder is a great idea. Protein powder blends well with the whipped topping and pudding mix, offering an added nutritional boost without compromising the creamy texture. I sometimes use vanilla-flavored whey or plant-based protein powder, which complements the banana and vanilla flavors nicely. The layering technique is key to this dessert’s appeal. By alternating the vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture, you not only get a variety of textures in each bite but it also allows the flavors to meld beautifully after chilling in the fridge. I like to crumble some extra vanilla wafers on top for a crunchy finish before serving. Another tip is to prepare this dessert at least an hour ahead of time, but if you have the chance to let it sit overnight, the flavors will deepen, and the wafers soften just enough to create a creamy, indulgent consistency. For a more luxurious twist, some people blend in sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and a splash of vanilla extract into the pudding mix before folding in the whipped topping. This upgrade is delicious but optional. From my experience, this banana pudding is not only crowd-pleasing but incredibly simple to put together. It is ideal for summer gatherings, potlucks, or anytime you want a quick yet delightful dessert. The key is fresh ripe bananas and quality instant pudding mix, which ensures that the dessert is as satisfying as it is straightforward to make.
