How I quit my Mountain Dew addiction!!

Listen, the relationship I had with Mountain Dew was something crazy… You hear me. I would drink like 6-7 cans a day if not more… It was ridiculous. So I started drinking cranberry juice and la croix razz-cranberry with lemons or lime slices. Then I continued to make alterations to the drink. I have now locked down on the right recipe that I am falling for a little bit harder than I fell for Mountain Dew years ago lol. I have no measurements but the below is what I use:

Drink

* 1 can of cranberry ginger ale

* 1 can of razz-cranberry la croix sparkling water

* A splash or two of cranberry juice

* A splash of pineapple juice

Ice Cubes

* Sliced cranberry

* Mint

* Pineapple juice

Read moreQuitting my Mountain Dew habit was a game-changer, and while my cranberry ginger ale and razz-cranberry sparkling water concoction is my go-to, I know everyone's journey away from sugary drinks is different. If you're also looking for healthier alternatives to Mountain Dew or other sodas, trust me, there are so many delicious options out there that won't leave you feeling deprived! One of the biggest reasons I looked for a replacement was the sheer amount of sugar and artificial ingredients in soda. Even 'zero calorie' options can sometimes have artificial sweeteners that don't sit well with everyone. My goal was to find a drink that felt special, like a treat, but was genuinely good for me, addressing those health-conscious cola comparisons head-on. Here are a few other ideas I've explored and loved on my journey to healthier hydration, which might help you too, especially if you're comparing cola alternatives or seeking the healthiest zero calorie soft drink options: Sparkling Water with Fresh Fruit & Herbs: This is a fantastic base. Just grab a can of plain sparkling water, and add slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, or berries. A sprig of fresh mint or basil can elevate it even further. It’s incredibly refreshing and has zero sugar, making it a perfect healthy alternative for Mountain Dew. Unsweetened Iced Teas: From green tea to hibiscus or peppermint, brewing your own iced tea is super simple. You can enjoy it plain or add a touch of natural sweetness with a tiny splash of pineapple juice or a few muddled cranberries, similar to how I use cranberry juice in my recipe. It's a great sugar-free cola alternative. Kombucha: If you're into a little tang and probiotics, kombucha is a great bubbly choice. Just be mindful of sugar content, as some brands can be quite high. Look for lower-sugar options or even consider brewing your own for a truly health-conscious cola alternative. Infused Waters: For a subtle flavor, simply let fruits like strawberries, oranges, or even vegetables like ginger and cucumber sit in a pitcher of water for a few hours. It’s an easy way to make water more exciting and keeps you hydrated without any added sugars. Diluted Fruit Juices: While fruit juices can be high in sugar, diluting them with sparkling or plain water (like a splash of cranberry juice in my drink) drastically cuts down on the sugar while still providing flavor. It’s a great way to transition if you’re used to very sweet drinks, offering a lighter option than full-strength juice. Making the switch might feel challenging at first, especially if you had a strong attachment like I did. My best advice? Experiment! Find what excites your taste buds. It’s all about discovering new favorites that make you feel good. Whether it's a mix with cranberry ginger ale, razz-cranberry sparkling water, or simply water infused with fresh mint and cranberries, small changes can lead to a huge impact on your health and energy levels. Plus, having a collection of ingredients like those in the image – cans of sparkling water, bottles of juices, and fresh produce – makes it easy to whip up something delicious anytime. You'll be amazed at how quickly your cravings for soda diminish once you find your perfect healthy fizz!
