Meltdown
I have depression and anxiety, and possibly ADD or ADHD. I am worrying that one day I’ll have a meltdown especially at work, because I work at FedEx and everyone is around, I will worry and feel embarrassed 😳 if I ever have a meltdown down if I have and anxiety attack or a panic attack.
Navigating mental health challenges in the workplace, such as anxiety and the fear of having a meltdown, is critical for maintaining well-being. It's essential to understand that feeling anxious in a busy environment, especially when you have depression or attention disorders, is not uncommon. Here are some strategies to help manage these feelings: 1. **Create a Supportive Network**: Having trusted colleagues or friends at work can provide a safety net. Share your feelings with them, so they can offer support when needed. 2. **Practice Mindfulness Techniques**: Techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or short breaks can help ground you during stressful moments. Consider training yourself to recognize the early signs of anxiety and practice calming strategies. 3. **Seek Professional Help**: Don't hesitate to consult a mental health professional. Therapy can offer coping mechanisms tailored to your specific situation. 4. **Communicate Your Needs**: If comfortable, inform your supervisor about your mental health needs. Many workplaces have resources available, including employee assistance programs (EAPs) that can help. 5. **Develop a Plan for Crisis Situations**: Having a clear plan in-place can ease fears. Define steps you can take if you start feeling overwhelmed, such as moving to a quiet space or using a stress ball to manage immediate anxiety. By understanding your triggers and adopting proactive strategies, you can better navigate the potential for anxiety attacks and maintain your professionalism within the workplace while prioritizing your mental health.
