Why I'm"Downgrading"My Phone
So to preface this is no easy task! I spent a good week researching phones because I wanted a device I could put maybe Whatsapp on if any apps at all. Plus finding a flip phone that did 4G, would work in the united states with my carrier and matched the aesthetic I like for my devices was difficult. There is no guarantee of me actually detoxing from social media consumption because of this but I figured it was worth a shot. Currently while I wait for the phone to arrive I am detoxing from my watch first as that is apart of the problem as well. Because I technically get most of my notifications twice with that and it makes me want to look more not to mention it being a distraction at work. I won't lie it is kind of hard but I am only about 2 days in. I plan to share more as i go about this but its probably gonna be a while lol.
I am still Keeping my iPhone btw because ultimately theres some stuff i cant get around not having it just will only be used for stuff i literally cannot do on my phone or ipad/computer.

In today's fast-paced digital age, many individuals are reevaluating their relationship with technology. The trend of 'digital detox' is gaining momentum as people seek to reclaim their time and mental well-being from constant notifications and social media distractions. Switching to a simple device, like a flip phone, not only reduces the overwhelming influx of information but also encourages more meaningful interactions in daily life. Choosing the right phone can be daunting in a sea of options. For many, factors such as price, functionality, aesthetic preference, and compatibility with their carrier are vital. It's essential to conduct thorough research—read reviews, compare features, and ensure the chosen device meets basic needs, like compatibility with apps like WhatsApp which can be crucial for connectivity without overwhelming distractions. Notably, the transformation doesn't require relinquishing all modern conveniences; instead, it’s about balancing digital access while limiting its potential for distraction. As you consider the shift towards minimalism, remember that the path is ongoing. Communities and online forums around 'phone addiction' and 'digital detox' can provide support and share experiences that resonate with your journey. Reducing screen time can lead to enhanced focus, creativity, and even better sleep patterns. By embracing the challenges that come with this lifestyle change, you may find unexpected joy in the simplicity it offers.
