This second book was just as good as the first and honestly it might even top it for me. I did not think I could fall harder, but here I am, absolutely in love with half the soldiers in the Fourth Kingdom’s army. The found family vibes, the loyalty, the heartbreak, the danger, I am emotionally unwell in the best way.
And can we TALK about Auren’s admission while fighting Rip?? Because… major side eye moment. Like ma’am, we are in the middle of chaos and you are out here dropping emotional grenades. I had to pause, stare at the page, and whisper, “Are we really doing this right now?” Yes. Yes we were.
Also the saddle girls. Whew. Spicy. Vindictive. Messy in the way that makes you want to backhand a few and still keep reading because the drama is absolutely delicious. Every scene with them had me living for the tension and plotting their downfall.
Glint deepens the world, sharpens the emotional stakes, and makes you care way too much about people who are absolutely not safe. It is intense, addictive, and impossible to put down. I laughed, I gasped, I side eyed, and I immediately wanted more.
