Statements such as "Stop forcing your sexuality on us" or "You better not be gay" felt like barriers to my true self, but over time, I learned to stand strong and confident in who I am. It’s important to acknowledge the hurt these attitudes cause and the ongoing fight for acceptance within not only society but even within smaller communities, such as sports teams or schools. Sharing these experiences helps break the silence and empowers others going through similar pain. Reflecting on survival also means celebrating the resilience that comes from embracing our identities fully.
