Butterbeer Jello Shots

Ingredients

* 1 cup cream soda: Any brand of cream soda works and gives the shots their classic, sweet butterbeer flavor.

* 1 package unflavored gelatin: Use plain gelatin, as the cream soda and vodka provide all the flavor. Knox brand is a popular choice; a box typically contains four envelopes.

* ½ cup vanilla or whipped cream vodka: Use one of these to sweeten the jello shots. Vanilla vodka is the standard, but whipped cream vodka offers a smoother taste. The choice is yours!

* ½ cup butterscotch cream liqueur: This delicious blend of butter, brown sugar, and cream is an excellent choice for this recipe. A cream liqueur is preferred over Butterscotch Schnapps for a creamier result.

* Whipped cream: Top with Cool Whip or any whipped cream for a light and creamy garnish.

* Gold sugar sprinkles: Add some festive gold sprinkles to brighten up your shots.

* Caramel sauce (optional): Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra flavor. It may be a little messy, but it's delicious!

How to Make Butterbeer Jello Shots

* Pour the cream soda into a medium-sized saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside.

* In a separate medium bowl, combine the vodka and butterscotch cream liqueur.

* Sprinkle the gelatin into the liqueur mixture and stir to combine. Let the gelatin bloom for 2–3 minutes.

* Add the hot cream soda to the mixture and stir until everything is fully combined.

* Arrange your 2-ounce plastic shot cups on a baking sheet or baking pan.

* Carefully pour the mixture into the cups.

* Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until set.

* Just before serving, top with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Variations

* For a creamier shot, use Butterscotch Cream Liqueur instead of Butterscotch Schnapps. The added cream really makes a difference.

* Caramel liqueur can be used in a pinch as a substitute for butterscotch, as the flavors are quite similar.

* If you don't like flavored vodka, you can use regular vodka. The butterscotch flavor will still be prominent, but you'll lose a little of the sweet vanilla flavor. In this case, you may want to add a small amount of vanilla extract to the recipe.

* Increase the vodka to up to ¾ cup for a stronger shot.
