Dating 2024

I just want to preface this by explaining that I need to put my frustrations about this. While I do value advice and understand there may be negativity surrounding this, please know this is only my experience and I ask for kindness.

A year ago, the only man I’ve ever loved quite literally broke my heart. He became someone else in that process, moved on quickly, and made me feel like I was never important at all.

I have been trying to heal since then. I have been trying to move on. But the state of dating in 2024 is just not helping.

Firstly-dating apps are horrific. I have rarely met someone who is actually as they present themself to be online. Some guys even show how gross they are immediately through offensive comments and messages.

Secondly-the guys I have met that I have liked haven’t seemed to like me back at all. I put in as much effort as I possibly can but it’s just not enough.

Thirdly-speed dating is not helpful at all. You’re put in a small room crowded with people and then you talk to many different guys while the person next to you is laughing nonstop. While you put the effort in to show your best self, even though you paid to go, no one likes you.

Fourthly-making friends is really hard!! So there’s never anyone to go out with and for someone with social anxiety, it’s incredibly difficult to go out by yourself. Sometimes, friends you did manage to make plans with, turn out to be entirely unreliable and you lose faith and gain trust issues all over again.

In the year that I have been trying to move on and heal, to find someone to love and to love me, I have failed miserably over and over again. I am in therapy, I exercise to improve my mind, I try new and social things even though it makes me uncomfortable, I make myself look pretty, I try to be kind and positive as much as I can. However none of this is working and, frankly, I am fed up.

That’s all…thank you for listening ❤️

... Read moreAs dating evolves in 2024, many grapple with the impact of technology on relationships. Online dating apps, although convenient, often foster superficial connections. Studies show that up to 60% of users have encountered dishonesty in profiles, leading to feelings of frustration and disillusionment. The phenomenon isn't limited to apps alone; the systemic pressures of speed dating events further complicate the search for genuine connections. Individuals frequently report feeling lost amidst the noise, often leaving events disheartened after fleeting interactions that lack depth. Mental health implications are noteworthy, with a rising number of singles facing social anxiety. Building meaningful relationships has become increasingly challenging. Forming a social circle is essential, yet it poses a struggle for many, especially for those dealing with emotional wounds from previous relationships. Engaging in activities that foster authentic connections can provide relief, though it requires stepping out of one's comfort zone. The importance of self-care and personal growth cannot be overstated in this context. People are encouraged to pursue hobbies, join groups, and seek therapy to manage their feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. Despite the journey being tough, sharing experiences and embracing vulnerability can create a supportive community, where individuals uplift each other. Ultimately, as one navigates the dating landscape of 2024, focusing on authenticity and personal fulfillment remains imperative. Seeking connections founded on genuine understanding and empathy can pave the way for healthier relationships and emotional resilience.
