Searching for the fruit flavor 🔎

Truth time… I am not a big fan of subtle or hints of flavors. Found these at Safeway and thought I would give them a try.

Pouring up some iced tea on a warm day hit the spot, but I'm still looking for the fruit on the label!

Wanted blood orange and raspberry, got water with a tea bag memory. Zero sugar/calories is great, but I was really hoping for that fruit flavor punch!

Both looked the same and tasted the same.

This is a pass.

... Read moreIf you're like me and really crave a strong fruit flavor in your iced tea, you might find that many products labeled as "fruit-flavored" don't quite deliver. For instance, the teas I recently tried, labeled with blood orange and raspberry, had barely any noticeable fruit taste—more like lightly brewed tea without the fruit punch I was hoping for. One thing I noticed right away was the very low juice content; these teas contained about 1% juice, which probably explains why the fruit flavor is so subtle. While zero sugar and zero calories are certainly a plus, especially for those watching their intake, it can sometimes mean manufacturers sacrifice actual fruit sweetness and flavor intensity. From my experience, if you want a refreshing iced tea that genuinely tastes like the fruit advertised, it's important to check the ingredient list carefully. Look for teas with a higher percentage of real fruit juice or those that use natural fruit extracts rather than just flavorings or essences. These tend to deliver a much more satisfying taste. Additionally, packaging might be misleading. The two flavors I tried—blood orange red hibiscus and raspberry black tea—looked almost identical and tasted surprisingly similar. This could happen if the teas rely predominantly on the base black tea flavor, with insufficient fruit infusions. If you’re on the hunt for zero sugar beverages that still pack a fruity punch, consider trying freshly brewed iced teas where you can add your own fruit slices or natural fruit syrups, or explore brands known for stronger fruit flavor profiles. It's a bit of trial and error, but worth it when you find a truly flavorful drink. In summary, while these Saint James organic brewed teas are a decent low-calorie option on a warm day, they fell short in delivering the vibrant fruit flavors promised on the label. Hopefully, with more transparency on juice content and natural flavor intensity, future fruit-flavored teas will better meet expectations.

Good that it has no calories and added sugar. Feels like a regular eater with light fruit flavour. Would be good to have this to replace soft drinks
