Winter skin needs different rules ❄️
These small changes completely transformed my skin in colder months:
✔️ thicker moisturizers
✔️ gentle cleansers
✔️ sunscreen (yes, even now)
And what I stopped doing mattered just as much 👀
Hot water + over-exfoliating were sabotaging me.
Save this for your winter skincare reset 🤍

Winter brings unique challenges to skincare, and adopting a few extra steps can make a huge difference in keeping your skin healthy and radiant. One of the biggest shifts I made was switching to cream-based or non-foaming cleansers that hydrate instead of strip moisture. These gentle options help prevent the dryness and redness that harsh soaps often cause during colder months. Another game changer is applying moisturizers immediately after washing your face, preferably when your skin is still slightly damp to lock in hydration. I learned that using thicker moisturizers with ingredients like ceramides, shea butter, glycerin, and squalane can effectively reinforce the skin barrier and combat winter dryness. A surprising but critical tip is to avoid hot water on your face. Hot water removes the skin’s natural oils, which exacerbates dryness and irritation, especially in winter. Instead, lukewarm water is gentler and helps maintain your skin’s protective barrier. Over-exfoliating was another habit I had to break. Limiting exfoliation to about once a week prevents disruption of the skin’s natural defense and reduces sensitivity. Even in winter, sunscreen remains essential. Many underestimate UV exposure during colder months, but UVA rays can still cause premature aging and pigmentation. I incorporate a daily sunscreen into my routine to protect against this invisible damage. Moisturizing lips is equally important; avoiding licking dry lips helps keep them hydrated and prevents cracking. To enhance moisture retention overnight, I also use overnight sleeping masks and a humidifier in my bedroom. These simple additions create a more skin-friendly environment, combating the dryness often caused by indoor heating. Finally, keeping hydrated from the inside by drinking plenty of water and eating nutrient-rich foods supports skin health during the colder months. By making these adjustments, you can maintain a glowing, healthy complexion even when the temperature drops. Winter skincare isn’t complicated—it just needs a little extra care and attention to your skin’s changing needs.
