⚠️CW: Pet Loss⚠️
We had to put down my eight-year-old dog, Lilly, today. Back in April, she was diagnosed with cancer and for the last two months she has been going downhill very quickly. Even though we had her end-of-life appointment scheduled for a whole month, it didn’t feel real to me until this morning when I had to say goodbye.
I’ve lost pets before, but this one was different. She was only 8, she was so young.

Losing a pet can be one of the most heartbreaking experiences for anyone who has welcomed a furry friend into their life. The bond between humans and animals is profound, often rooted in shared moments of joy, companionship, and unconditional love. When facing the pain of losing a pet, it's essential to honor their memory while allowing yourself to grieve. This process can take many forms, such as creating a memorial, sharing stories with friends and family, or even writing a letter to your pet expressing your love and gratitude. Pet loss support groups and online communities can provide solace and understanding during this difficult time. Engaging with others who have experienced similar losses allows for shared healing and the comforting realization that you're not alone. Remember, acknowledging the pain of loss is a crucial step toward healing. Celebrating the joy your pet brought into your life can gradually help you move forward, keeping their memory alive in your heart.
