READING ON THE GO

I had someone ask me what kindle I was using today lol I told them it was an iPad, and got into this long ass discussion on what was better.

To be honest it’s all about preference and needs. Over all I prefer my iPad because I felt the kindle was too limited. I need to also journal, write book reviews, and sell books I didn’t want anymore.

Yes I can do that all with my phone, but I didn’t want the distraction from using my phone.

While Kindles offer a distraction-free e-ink screen excellent for long reading sessions, I found that using an iPad gave me much more flexibility. For instance, the iPad is not just an e-reader—it’s also a powerful tool for journaling, writing book reviews, and even managing book sales directly through apps or social media platforms. One key benefit of using a tablet like the iPad over a phone is the bigger screen size, which drastically reduces eye strain and makes typing or note-taking more comfortable. Additionally, tablets allow you to switch between multiple apps seamlessly, which is perfect when you're juggling digital books, note-taking apps, and your online marketplace. Regarding apps, I rely heavily on Libby for borrowing library ebooks, Apple Books and Google Play Books for purchases, and AO3 for fanfiction. For manga and manwha, Manta and Webtoon are my go-to platforms, offering extensive free and paid options with a smooth reading experience. From a practical perspective, avoiding phone distractions by using a dedicated device like an iPad enhances focus and productivity. If you’re someone who likes to write thoughts about your reading or track your progress, investing in a device and apps that support those activities can significantly enrich your reading experience on the go. Ultimately, your choice might depend on whether you prioritize eye comfort and long reading sessions (Kindle) or multifunctionality and app versatility (iPad). It’s all about what fits your unique reading lifestyle and how you want to engage with your books beyond just reading them.
