Completed Sketchbook Tour ✨
We are going through my mixed media sketchbook today, but in other posts I am covering all of the ones you see in my cover photo!
However, I want you to remember that this is a highlight reel! All the really bad ones did not make it into this post 😂
So if your sketchbook looks different, or isn't a fully shaded and colored piece on every page, let me assure you, that is normal.
It's weird because I feel like I dont make a lot of art, or like I've barely made anything and then I actually look, and I find that there is lots of it 💗

Hey fellow art lovers! So glad you're enjoying the peek into my mixed media sketchbook. While it's a highlight reel, I wanted to share some thoughts and tips on creating your own aesthetic sketchbook, because I know we all strive for those beautiful pages! Getting Started with Aesthetic Pencil Drawings: If you're looking for sketchbook aesthetic pencil drawings, remember that simplicity often creates the most impact. I love starting with simple texture drawing exercises – exploring different shading techniques with just a graphite pencil. Think about sketching everyday objects, or even quick gestural studies of people. Sometimes, just focusing on line art, like a detailed building or a profile of a man with interesting geometric lines, can be incredibly satisfying. Don't be afraid to just sketch simple shapes or practice elements like eyes, hands, or flowers. These small studies really build up your confidence and fill pages beautifully! For me, a quick pencil sketch of a woman with braided hair or a person floating amidst stars can be a perfect way to capture a moment or an idea. Diving into Watercolor Sketchbook Ideas: Watercolor can feel intimidating, but a sketchbook is the perfect place to experiment! For watercolor sketchbook ideas, try small landscape studies – a stormy sky with lightning, or a serene sunset. You don't need to commit to a full painting. I often do quick watercolor portraits, like a person wearing glasses and a cap, or even just studies of color palettes. Another fun idea is painting fluffy animals, like those cute rabbits I tried. The beauty of watercolor is its fluidity, so embrace happy accidents, especially if you're trying techniques like incorporating ink bleed. Even just washing a background and adding a simple line drawing over it creates a lovely mixed media effect. Embracing Mixed Media & OC Sketchbook Page Ideas: My sketchbook is definitely mixed media, and that's where the fun truly begins! Don't be afraid to combine materials. You saw examples like ink drawings side-by-side with watercolor washes. If you're into character design, try creating OC sketchbook page ideas. This could be anything from an anime-style character with spiky hair to comic-inspired art, like those vibrant Spider-Verse characters. You can even combine pencil sketches with colored pencil accents, or add a pop of color to a grayscale portrait. I loved working on a winged figure with colorful lettering, showing how different elements can come together on one page. Overcoming the 'Blank Page' Fear: It’s normal to feel like you don't make a lot of art, or that your sketchbook isn't 'perfect.' Mine definitely isn't! The key is consistency, not perfection. Try to do an easy drawing of anything each day, even if it's just a doodle. These small acts of creation fill your pages and give you a visual diary of your progress. Remember, your sketchbook is a safe space for exploration, not just a portfolio of finished pieces. So grab your supplies, embrace the process, and let your creativity flow! Happy sketching!
