BIBLE STUDY MESSAGE 📖

DELIVERANCE from PESSIMISM is POSSIBLE. We see it in the apostle Thomas' life. Thomas had a history of unbelief, so much so that he is often referenced as Doubting Thomas. Jesus DEFEATED pessimism in Thomas' life; giving us insight into how to defeat it in our own lives. The first step in defeating PESSIMISM is UNDERSTANDING who you are in Christ. Thomas was specifically called by Jesus to be one of His disciples. Knowing that he was chosen by the Lord Jesus Christ, and that he was loved unconditionally by Him was the first step in Thomas' transformation.

It can be the beginning for us, as well. God CALLED us to be His own because of His great LOVE for us and His unique design for each of our lives. We are LOVED specially and unconditionally, and the God of the universe holds each one of us FOREVER in His hands. There is NOTHING we can do to affect God's calling. He freely called us because we are SPECIAL to Him. (JOHN 20:24-29)

Just like Thomas, who was initially known for his doubts, I struggled with negative thoughts that held me back. But reflecting on the story of Thomas—who was personally called and deeply loved by Jesus—helped me see that my value and purpose are secure in God’s hands. In practical terms, this meant daily reminders like the simple morning prayer “Good Morning Lord Jesus. Thank you for another day” became a powerful way to start my day with gratitude and hope. Embracing God’s unconditional love shifted my perspective, so pessimism no longer controlled how I viewed challenges. What truly made a difference was focusing on God’s calling rather than my own fears. Knowing that God’s plans for me are special and that nothing can change His calling gave me peace and motivation. If you’re struggling with doubt or pessimism, try taking moments throughout your day to reflect on your worth through Christ’s eyes, just as Thomas did. This practice can gradually defeat the pessimistic mindset and replace it with faith-filled confidence. Remember, just as Jesus helped Thomas move from doubt to belief, you too can experience deliverance from pessimism. The key is to hold onto your identity in Christ, recognizing that you are deeply loved and chosen for a purpose that only you can fulfill.
