please read these incredible Black fantasy books

i think the fifth season by n.k. jemisin is maybe the best fantasy book i’ve ever read. it’s certainly been hard to follow! the characters, the world, the plot, the themes … i couldn’t ever look away. even people who don’t typically enjoy fantasy can’t tear themselves away from this one.

the rage of dragons by evan winter is for you if you love ACTION. image the most intense sword fight you’ve ever seen. then triple that. and somehow, it all comes to life through these pages.

... Read moreBlack fantasy literature has emerged as a vibrant and essential genre, offering readers fresh perspectives and innovative storytelling. One standout is 'The Fifth Season' by N.K. Jemisin, which intricately weaves themes of oppression, survival, and resilience within its uniquely crafted world. Jemisin's masterful narrative style and character development allow readers to deeply engage with the struggles faced by its protagonists, ultimately challenging societal norms and expectations. Similarly, 'The Rage of Dragons' by Evan Winter showcases the compelling journey of a young warrior focused on vengeance amid intense conflict and violence. This novel not only delivers breathtaking action sequences that keep readers on edge but also explores the cyclical nature of violence and the quest for freedom. Both books highlight the importance of representation in fantasy literature, inviting readers to expand their horizons and appreciate diverse voices in storytelling. If you're seeking fantasy that resonates with powerful themes and dynamic characters, these remarkable works are essential additions to your reading list.
