i love horror and i read a LOT of horror, but Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng chilled me in a brand new way.
this book takes place in NYC at the beginning of the pandemic, and Cora witness a racist stranger murder her sister by pushing her in front of a subway. things only get darker from there, as she and her friends discover a possible serial killer targeting East Asian women AND there are hungry ghosts on the loose.
