i feel lucky that i’m always stumbling into the coolest book recs … and then i’m mad that i don’t have enough people to chat about them with!!
so this is a plea from me to you: read these horror books! they’re both fantastic and both don’t get enough hype in my humble opinion. i love when i read a horror story that’s fresh and interesting, and both of these premises immediately had me hooked.
jackal is a trippy, theatrical, social horror adventure. Black girls have been disappearing into the very spooky woods for decades, but nobody else seems to have noticed or be investigating.
wrath becomes her asks how far would you go to preserve someone’s memory? and what’s the best way to do so - is revenge justified? what are the necessary desecrations you must make to survive? it’s a morally complicated piece with rich character work.
