read trans books this pride month!

if you want to read and support a whole bunch of authors at once, an anthology is the way to go!

i love checking out anthologies, because i can get a glimpse into so many different writing styles and concepts and ideas. then afterwards, i’ll go and check out full books that were written by the authors of my favorite pieces in the collection.

like any anthology, the stories in transmogrify were a bit hit-or-miss, but there were some that were SO impressive and truly moved me. i do wish there was a little bit more diversity in this collection as well.

... Read moreAs Pride Month approaches, many readers are on the lookout for books that not only entertain but also celebrate and uplift marginalized voices. Anthologies are a unique way to explore a variety of writing styles and narratives in a single volume, offering insights into multiple authors and their distinctive perspectives. The anthology 'Transmogrify' is a noteworthy collection featuring 14 enchanting stories filled with magic and centering trans main characters. In the realm of literature, anthologies act as a springboard; they often lead readers to discover new authors whose full works resonate. The joyous act of reading diverse stories allows for a broader understanding of experiences beyond one's own, essential during Pride Month. While not every story in 'Transmogrify' may hit the mark for all readers, the standout pieces serve powerful narratives that can leave a lasting impression. However, there's always room for improvement in representation, and readers advocate for even greater diversity in future collections. As you explore the rich world of trans-focused literature, don't forget to check out additional anthologies featuring works by authors like G. Haron Davis, who curate collections that reflect the vibrancy of the LGBTQ+ community. By choosing to read trans books this month, you engage actively with these pivotal narratives that highlight the beauty of diversity and the importance of inclusivity in literature.
