... Read moreBeyond the list of amazing reads, I wanted to share a bit more about why this #ReadForPalestine initiative truly resonates with me and why I believe it's such a powerful way to connect and contribute. When we pick up a book by a Palestinian author, we're not just reading a story; we're stepping into a world, gaining perspective that's often overlooked, and challenging preconceived notions. The power of narrative, especially fiction, can illuminate realities in a way that news headlines sometimes can't. For instance, immersing myself in stories like 'Against the Loveless World' was a profound experience. The narrative voice in that book, blending reality so seamlessly with fiction, truly made it feel like a memoir, offering an intimate look at resilience and love amidst immense suffering. It’s through these deeply human stories that we can truly understand the complexities and emotional landscapes of those experiencing conflict. Similarly, the poignant poetry collection, 'Blood Orange,' left a lasting impact on me. Its clear, compassionate, and strong voice shared grief, defiance, and crucial moments of quiet hope. These works aren't just literature; they are windows into the soul of a people. The 'Read For Palestine' initiative isn't just about discovery; it's about active solidarity. The fundraiser for 'Dignity For Palestinians' is a critical component. This community-based group in Gaza provides vital support like food, clean water, and health services – truly life-sustaining aid. The idea of making a small financial pledge – whether it's $2 or $5 per book – or even a lump sum, transforms our personal reading journey into a collective act of giving. It makes every page count. And if donating isn't possible, simply spreading the word and boosting the announcement posts is incredibly helpful. The collective goal of raising $25,000, or about $6,700 for my fellow Americans, is ambitious but achievable if we all chip in. I've also found incredibly valuable discussions in my Discord group around these books. It's a wonderful way to read in community, sharing insights and emotions. For those seeking even more young adult options, the graphic novel 'Squire' provides an accessible yet powerful exploration of colonialism and challenging truths through the eyes of a young girl dreaming of becoming a knight. It's a fantastic entry point for younger readers or anyone who appreciates the visual storytelling format. This September, let's commit to not only expanding our literary horizons but also to making a tangible difference. Every book read, every dollar pledged, every shared post helps. It’s a beautiful way to show up for Palestine, enriching our minds while supporting urgent humanitarian needs on the ground.

read this book immediately!
This past month I finished a book that had been on my shelf for over a year and over course was kicking myself afterward. It had taken me so long to read a book I ended up loving! Better late than never though. Enter Ghost is a tender, realistic look at modern day Palestine and the complicated sens

What i realistically read in a week
Realistically I mostly read on the weekends haha. I try my hardest to prioritize scripture reading over any of it. My life and the things that I have are all because of Christ and I want my life to reflect that. So this week the only reading I did WAS scripture and that’s ok, if the fundamentals ar

I read 50 books in 2024, these were my favorite
TBF I was in a massive reading slump for most of 2024, which drastically skewed my favorite books list. It wasn't necessarily that I wasn't reading books I liked but that, for whatever reason, I wasn't finding the same spark of joy I normally did when reading. That's probably someth
