... Read moreThe first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are truly a special time in the Islamic calendar, offering an unparalleled opportunity for spiritual growth and immense rewards. As the Hadith beautifully reminds us, "There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." This isn't just a statement; it's a profound call to action, urging us to seize every moment. I've always found these days incredibly motivating. It's like Allah (SWT) is giving us a spiritual booster shot, a chance to really ramp up our good deeds and purify our intentions. The idea that every good action, no matter how small, is multiplied in its reward is just so inspiring. It makes you feel like you can truly achieve something significant, even if you're not able to perform Hajj. So, what can we actually do during these blessed days to make the most of them? Here’s some DAILY WISDOM I've gathered and tried to implement myself: Fasting: While not obligatory, fasting during these days, especially on the Day of Arafah (the 9th of Dhul Hijjah), carries immense rewards. Fasting on Arafah is said to expiate the sins of the year gone by and the year to come. Even if you can't fast all ten, try for Arafah! Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah): Increase your remembrance of Allah. Recite 'SubhanAllah', 'Alhamdulillah', 'La ilaha illallah', and 'Allahu Akbar' frequently. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged Tasbeeh (SubhanAllah), Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), Tahleel (La ilaha illallah), and Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) during these days. It’s a simple way to keep your heart connected to Allah throughout the day. Recitation of the Quran: Dedicate a specific time each day to recite the Quran. Even a few verses with reflection can be incredibly beneficial. Try to understand the meaning, not just recite. Charity (Sadaqah): Giving charity is always rewarding, but even more so during these blessed days. It doesn't have to be a large amount; even a small contribution given sincerely can make a difference and earn you multiplied rewards. Du'a (Supplication): Make sincere supplications. Ask Allah for forgiveness, guidance, health, and for your needs in this life and the hereafter. There’s a special emphasis on Du'a on the Day of Arafah, known to be the best day for making supplications. Repentance (Tawbah): Use these days to reflect on your shortcomings and sincerely repent. Seek Allah's forgiveness for past sins and make a firm intention to avoid them in the future. Allah loves those who turn to Him in repentance. Good Deeds & Kindness: Beyond the specific acts of worship, focus on general good deeds. Be extra kind to your family, neighbors, and colleagues. Visit the sick, help the needy, or simply offer a genuine smile. As the original article beautifully puts it, "Even a smile can become your light on the Day of Judgment." These ten days are a precious gift, a unique opportunity for us to draw closer to Allah. Let's not let them pass us by without making a conscious effort. I'm personally trying to set small, achievable goals each day to truly benefit from this period. May Allah accept all our efforts and bless us tremendously during these magnificent days!
