Okay, fellow adventurers, I've just got to share about my absolute favorite spot – the legendary Haystack Rock! You know, the Goonies Rock! For years, I’ve dreamed of seeing this iconic landmark with my own eyes, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It's truly a bucket-list destination for any fan of the movie, or really, anyone who appreciates breathtaking natural beauty. If you're asking, 'Where is the Goonies Rock?' – well, it's proudly standing guard on Cannon Beach, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest coastline is just incredible, and Haystack Rock is undoubtedly its crown jewel. Walking up to it, you can almost hear the Goonies' theme music playing in your head. It's much bigger in person than it looks on screen, a truly massive sea stack that dominates the horizon. The sheer scale makes you realize why it was chosen for such an epic adventure film! One of my favorite things about visiting is exploring during low tide. The tide pools around the base of Haystack Rock are absolutely teeming with life! You can spot colorful sea anemones, starfish, crabs, and all sorts of tiny marine creatures. It’s like a whole other world waiting to be discovered, and it’s a fantastic activity for all ages. Just remember to check the tide charts before you go to catch the best viewing times, and always respect the marine environment – look but don't touch the creatures, and definitely don't take anything home. Beyond its Hollywood fame, Haystack Rock is also a vital wildlife refuge. It's a nesting site for thousands of seabirds, including puffins (if you're lucky enough to visit during breeding season, typically spring and early summer, you might see them!). Bringing a pair of binoculars is highly recommended so you can observe these incredible birds without disturbing them. It's amazing to watch them soar and dive around such a magnificent natural structure. But Cannon Beach isn't just about the rock! The charming town itself offers so much. There are art galleries, quaint shops, and delicious seafood restaurants perfect for refueling after a day of beachcombing. You can also take a leisurely stroll down the expansive sandy beach, enjoy a bonfire (where permitted), or simply sit and soak in the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Many visitors love to watch the sunset here, as the colors reflecting off the ocean and Haystack Rock are simply unparalleled. The atmosphere at Cannon Beach is just magical. There's something so calming about the vast expanse of the ocean, the sound of the waves, and that majestic rock standing firm against it all. Whether you're a hardcore Goonies fan, a nature lover, or just looking for a unique and beautiful place to unwind, Haystack Rock is a must-see. It's definitely earned its place as my dream destination, a place I could visit again and again. Trust me, seeing the Goonies Rock in person is an experience you won't forget!
