“I can cook you anything you want” and she will say “me too” 🤭😘
I was honestly shocked by the amount of girls in college that would laugh saying “I don’t even know how to cook an egg” whaaaaaatttt! No no no no… not my daughter!
Teaching my daughter how to cook has been one of the most rewarding parts of parenting for me. I believe that cooking is not just about preparing food; it’s an essential life skill that fosters independence, creativity, and confidence. It was surprising to hear so many college-aged girls say they don’t even know how to cook an egg. That’s why I’m committed to raising my daughter differently — ready to face the world with practical knowledge. Starting with simple recipes like scrambled eggs or grilled cheese has made her excited about cooking. We spend time together in the kitchen, where she learns important skills like chopping vegetables safely and understanding flavors. This hands-on experience not only prepares her for adulthood but also strengthens our bond. Additionally, teaching girls to cook helps challenge outdated stereotypes about gender roles. When she says, “I can cook you anything you want,” it’s a statement of empowerment and self-reliance, not just a fun phrase. It’s about raising a generation that values capability and confidence. I encourage other parents, especially moms, to prioritize these skills early on. Cooking boosts self-esteem and encourages a healthier relationship with food. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to encourage creativity and mindfulness in daily life. Ultimately, my goal is to raise a daughter who is not only skilled in the kitchen but also proud of her independence and ready to take on life’s challenges with confidence. It’s a small investment with lifelong benefits, and I’m excited to see her grow into a young woman who’s truly prepared for the real world.
