Do you think she would like it? 🥹🥺
When I started sewing classes, grandma was truly my biggest supporter! She would always tell me how proud she was of me, especially since after I learned I actually sewed my baby’s blessing dress from scratch… she was seriously so impressed and happy! She would always message me and send me letters in the mail… I just loved her so much and I miss her a lot! I hope this helps people that also miss her as much as I do, get a piece of her “back” and with them all times.
I will post a more detail video showing how I am doing everything 💕 but thank you for being here!
Creating a memorial item from a loved one's clothing can be an incredibly healing and personal experience. Many of us have garments that remind us of someone special — whether it's a favorite shirt, a cozy sweater, or a well-worn jacket — and repurposing these items into keepsakes allows us to carry a part of them with us every day. From my own journey, I found that transforming my grandma’s favorite shirt into a small keychain not only preserved her memory but also gave me something tangible to hold whenever I missed her. It’s a simple yet powerful way to honor her support and love, especially since she was so proud of me learning to sew and making meaningful items like my baby’s blessing dress. If you're considering making a memorial craft like this, start by selecting an article of clothing that holds sentimental value. Carefully cut out parts that showcase special fabric or patterns meaningful to the person’s personality or style. You can then sew these pieces onto a backing fabric or felt to give the keepsake sturdiness. Adding small embellishments like buttons, initials, or a piece of lace can personalize the keychain even more. Sharing this process with others who miss their loved ones can be comforting — it creates a sense of community around remembrance and creativity. Whether you give these keychains away at memorial services or keep them close for yourself, they serve as beautiful reminders of cherished relationships. If you’re new to sewing crafts, there are many online tutorials and sewing classes to help guide you step-by-step in creating memorial keepsakes. Having these skills also opens doors to making other sentimental gifts like quilts, pillows, or even wearable memorial jewelry. Most importantly, the act of creating helps with emotional healing and keeps your loved one’s memory alive in a heartfelt way.
