Here’s the truth, someone can be financially stable when they decide to have a child and still feel the pressure later on. The cost of living keeps rising and recently even worse than anyone would have imagined. Groceries, rent, utilities, everything increases year after year. That doesn’t mean they were irresponsible. That means the economy shifted.
We can’t ignore that reality.
Struggling today doesn’t mean someone was struggling when they chose to have their child. And even when families feel financial pressure, that doesn’t automatically mean their children are neglected or unloved.
My daughter lacks nothing. She is fully provided for, cared for, in therapy, and deeply loved. The support she receives is because of a diagnosed disability and it exists to reduce the additional financial burden that comes with raising a child with higher support needs.
Using a resource your child legally qualifies for isn’t failure. It’s wisdom. And more importantly judging families without understanding how quickly life can change helps no one. We’re doing our best. We’re adapting. And that’s what responsible parents do.
