This is Tsunami. A 9 year old Border collie who was rescued from the streets. He was neglected, underweight, and abused. Many would have overlooked him, but someone gave him a second chance and that second chance has gone on to save more than 100 lives.
Tsunami was trained by Jorge Beens and the K-SAR ECID team to become a search and rescue dog. Instead of letting his past define him, he became a symbol of hope.
Today, he’s in Venezuela, searching through collapsed buildings and dangerous rubble that the recent earthquakes caused, helping rescue people trapped beneath the debris. This mission will also be his final deployment before retiring at nine years old.
Think about that for a moment.
A dog who was once abandoned has now dedicated his life to saving complete strangers. So the next time someone says, “It’s just a dog,” remember Tsunami.
