I honestly had no idea this existed until recently. 🥹💙
This is my 5 Year Journey Award from Children with Diabetes, and receiving it means so much more than just hitting five years.
It’s a reminder of every finger poke, every infusion or injection, every CGM alarm, every high, every low, every carb counted, every DKA, and every day I chose to keep going.
If you were diagnosed as a teen or adult like I was, I want you to know this: your life doesn’t stop after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Since my diagnosis, I’ve become a mom, started my family, moved into my own place, graduated, and continued pursuing new careers. Diabetes came with me through all of it but it never got to define me.
If you’re living with type 1 diabetes and didn’t know about the CWD Journey Awards , I hope this video introduces you to something worth celebrating. Every year with T1D is an accomplishment.
How many years have you been living with type 1 diabetes? I’d love to celebrate your journey with you. 💙

Living with type 1 diabetes is truly a lifelong journey filled with many daily challenges and milestones. Receiving a 5 Year Journey Award from Children with Diabetes is more than just recognition; it represents perseverance through countless finger pokes, insulin infusions, CGM alarms, highs, lows, and all the emotional ups and downs. From personal experience, managing T1D requires consistent care and mental strength. Each day brings new obstacles, but also opportunities to learn and grow stronger. The CWD Journey Awards serve not only as a celebration but also as motivation to keep going no matter what. If you were diagnosed as a teen or adult, like many others, it’s important to remember that your diagnosis does not define your life or limit your dreams. Life can still be rich and full—advancing your career, starting a family, moving into your own home, and achieving personal goals are all possible. For those living with T1D who might not be aware, the Children with Diabetes (CWD) program offers these awards to honor and recognize each individual’s unique journey. It’s a beautiful way to mark every year lived with diabetes as an accomplishment worth celebrating. Engaging with a community, whether through local groups or online forums, can provide valuable support and encouragement. Sharing stories and milestones with others living with type 1 diabetes helps foster a sense of belonging and strength. Remember, every carb counted, every glucose check, and every moment of self-care is part of your story. Embrace your journey, celebrate your progress, and know that you’re never alone in this. The path of managing diabetes is challenging but also full of incredible moments of personal growth and resilience.
