My Best Advice to anyone navigating GRIEF:
DO get yourself ready for the day.
DO Feel everything as loud or as quiet as you want.
DO Forcibly look for joy
everywhere.
DO NOT cancel plans with people you know exude positive energy.
Grieving is a deeply personal journey that doesn't follow a set timeline, and each day can present new challenges and emotions. One approach I've found invaluable is to allow myself to fully experience whatever feelings come up, whether they're loud or quiet. Suppressing emotions can prolong the healing process, so I make space to feel sadness, anger, or even moments of peace without judgment. Preparing for the day, even in small ways, helps me regain a sense of control when life feels overwhelming. Simple rituals like making coffee, getting dressed, or opening a window for fresh air can ground me and remind me that each day is a new opportunity. Actively searching for joy, even in tiny moments—like the sight of a balloon that's been uplifting my spirits for months or a kind word from a friend—can be surprisingly powerful. It doesn’t mean forgetting the loss but balancing grief with lightness to nurture resilience. Another important insight is to maintain connections with people who radiate positivity. Canceling plans can lead to isolation, but spending time with uplifting individuals provides emotional support and reminds us we’re not alone. From my own experience, holding on to meaningful mementos, such as keepsakes from a loved one, helps honor their memory without trying to erase the significance they had in our lives. Each person will have a unique way to navigate grief, but embracing emotions, seeking joy, preparing each day mindfully, and leaning on positive relationships are key pillars that can guide the healing process.
