January BOTM Picks
The year started off with an amazing selection for January book of the month picks. I could only pick five books for my box but there were so many more that I wanted to add. My January selection was Babylonia by costanza casati, this fantasy was calling me and I also decided to pick her other book as an add on (very exciting).
I’ve been working on getting every BOTM version of Riley sagers books because I love thrillers and I’ve only heard good things about him.
I also got the stolen Queen by Fiona Davis and I’m very interested to see where that will go, might have to get more of her books!
Lastly and most importantly, Shari Franke “house of my mother”, as soon as I saw that as an option, immediate click to add on. I watched the things her mom said and did in real time and it was all bad. Shari being able to tell her story gives you a look into what actually happened (people were very judgmental without knowing anything that was going on). I’m glad Shari got to tell her story and the book was very well written

Speaking of my January Book of the Month picks, I just had to dive deeper into Costanza Casati’s *Babylonia*. I've been eyeing her work, especially after seeing the stunning cover art for Babylonia and Clytemnestra: A Novel – they just scream epic historical fantasy! *Babylonia*, with its promise of ancient worlds and powerful narratives, immediately caught my attention. It’s not just the intricate stories, but also how beautifully crafted her books are, even down to the physical book itself, which is a huge draw for me with BOTM. I heard fantastic things about her other works, and the thought of diving into a world as rich as ancient Mesopotamia or Greece is just irresistible. If you love historical fiction with a strong, immersive voice, you really need to check out her novels. Choosing books from the Book of the Month app each month is always a highlight. It feels like a curated treasure hunt, and I love that they often introduce me to authors I might not otherwise discover. Beyond Costanza Casati, I made sure to snag some other fantastic reads. For instance, I'm on a mission to collect all the BOTM editions of Riley Sager's thrillers – his suspense keeps me on the edge of my seat, and The House Across the Lake is next on my list. And then there's Fiona Davis; her historical fiction, like *The Stolen Queen*, always transports me to another time and place with such vivid detail. It’s perfect for when I want a blend of history and mystery. These choices really highlight the variety BOTM offers, from gripping thrillers to evocative historical tales. But perhaps the most impactful pick for me this January was The House of My Mother by Shari Franke. This isn't just a powerful story; it's a testament to resilience and finding your voice. Having followed some of the real-life events, I knew I had to read Shari’s perspective. It’s truly a brave and beautifully written account that sheds light on complex family dynamics and the healing process. Getting to read her full story, unfiltered and authentic, is incredibly moving. It’s moments like these, discovering stories that resonate so deeply, that make my Book of the Month subscription so worthwhile.
