... Read moreAfter sharing the foundational chapters of my life – the early struggles with food addiction, the bullying, and the slow climb towards self-belief – many of you might be wondering, 'How did Steph truly turn things around?' It wasn't an overnight change, but a consistent dedication to small, intentional steps that eventually led me to become the 2x marathoner, wellness coach, and digital creator I am today.
My journey away from food addiction really began with understanding its roots. For years, food was my comfort, my escape, mirroring the addiction patterns I saw in my family. The numbers on the scale – 229 lbs at 13, 205 lbs at 12 – were just symptoms of deeper emotional turmoil. The transformation wasn't about dieting; it was about healing my relationship with food and with myself. I started by introducing structure into my meals, something I never had growing up. Instead of restricting, I focused on nourishing my body with whole foods, learning what true hunger felt like versus emotional eating.
Exercise became a cornerstone of my recovery. Initially, it was just walking, then jogging, and eventually, the incredible challenge of marathon training. Running isn't just physical; it's a profound mental discipline. It taught me resilience, the power of incremental progress, and how to push through discomfort. Completing my first marathon was a monumental moment, proving to myself that my body was capable of amazing things, far beyond what I ever imagined during those years of shame.
As I found my footing in my own wellness journey, a new passion emerged: helping others. This led me to become a wellness coach. My personal experience with food addiction, weight struggles, and mental health challenges allows me to connect with people on a deeply empathetic level. I understand the emotional rollercoaster, the temptation to give up, and the incredible strength it takes to keep going. My coaching focuses not just on diet and exercise, but on holistic well-being – mind, body, and spirit.
Being a digital creator allows me to share this message with a wider audience. Whether it's through sharing my healthy recipes, fitness routines, or honest reflections on mental wellness, my goal is to inspire and empower. It's about building a community where everyone feels seen and supported. I often share 'latest' updates on my daily life as a mother and wife, showing how I integrate these wellness practices into a busy schedule, dispelling the myth that health has to be complicated or perfect.
If you're reading this and feeling stuck, remember this: your story isn't over. My path from that insecure girl hiding behind edited photos to a confident woman running marathons and coaching others is proof that you can redefine your narrative. Start small. Seek support. And never underestimate the power of believing in yourself, one healthy choice at a time.
This is one of the best glow ups I’ve seen!!So happy for you!
