How I Stay on Top of BIO 112 with My Calendar
Taking BIO 112 in the summer is no joke, but I created a visual system that keeps me focused, on track, and less stressed. This wall calendar is my go-to tool for managing all my labs, lectures, and study sessions — and I swear by it! 🙌🏾🧬
🖊️ My Color Code System:
💗 Pink – Lecture due dates
🔵 Blue – Lab quizzes, reports, and practicals
🔺 Red – Study sessions & review time
📆 Why It Works:
• I can see everything that’s coming up — no guessing.
• It separates lecture vs. lab so I don’t feel like everything’s piling up.
• Study time is clearly mapped out so I’m never cramming last minute.
• Projects like my oral report are broken down over multiple days, which lowers stress and boosts productivity.
✨ Tips for Other Students:
✅ Give each course component (lecture/lab/study) its own color
✅ Start each week with a plan — don’t wing it!
✅ Use your calendar as a visual motivator (you’ll want to keep going just to stay on track!)
✅ Place it somewhere you look at every day — mine sits between my Mac and dry erase board 📲🧠
Whether you’re juggling BIO 112, BIO 210, or any tough summer course — this system makes it manageable. Your peace matters just as much as your GPA. 💖💯

Using an organized calendar is a powerful approach to managing intensive courses such as BIO 112, especially during the condensed summer term. The OCR content highlights key scheduling details like lab quizzes, oral reports, exams, and study sessions, reinforcing the need for structured planning. Establishing clear color codes—such as pink for lecture due dates, blue for lab quizzes and reports, and red for dedicated study and review—helps students distinguish and prioritize tasks effectively. Detailed calendar segmentation allows students to visualize their workload clearly, enabling them to allocate sufficient time daily for study and project work like oral presentations. This strategy prevents last-minute cramming and reduces overwhelm by breaking large tasks into manageable steps spread across multiple days. Moreover, positioning the calendar in a frequently viewed location facilitates regular engagement, turning the schedule into a motivating visual reminder. Starting each week with a specific plan ensures proactive rather than reactive study behavior, which research consistently shows to improve academic outcomes. Incorporating this method not only benefits students enrolled in BIO 112 but can be adapted for similarly demanding courses like BIO 210 or other STEM subjects undertaken during summer terms. Maintaining a balance between academic performance and mental well-being is crucial, and a personalized calendar system serves as an effective tool for achieving this equilibrium. Ultimately, staying organized through this visual system enhances productivity, lowers stress, and supports sustained educational success.
