... Read moreWow, I finally dove into Palia's early access, and I have to say, it’s been quite the experience! As a long-time fan of cozy games, I was really excited to see what this 'cozy MMO' had to offer, especially since it’s now available on Nintendo Switch. My first few hours felt like a whirlwind of discovery, from learning the ropes of foraging and bug catching to beginning to build my very own plot of land.
One of the first things that struck me was the sheer beauty of the world. The art style is absolutely charming, and exploring Kilima Village feels incredibly inviting. Getting started in early access meant a bit of a learning curve, but the quests do a good job of guiding you through the basics. I found myself quickly getting into the rhythm of daily life – watering my crops, chopping down trees, and mining for resources. It’s all very relaxing and a perfect way to wind down after a busy day. The ability to just play and explore at your own pace is a huge draw for me.
My absolute favorite part so far, and something I know many other players are keen on, is the housing system. Oh my goodness, the decorating possibilities! As soon as I unlocked my housing plot, I was obsessed. And let me tell you, the shelves are a game-changer. You start with some basic options, but as you progress and gather resources, you can craft or purchase so many different kinds of shelves – from rustic wooden ones to sleek, modern designs. I spent ages just arranging my collection of trinkets and crafted items on them. It’s not just about aesthetics; shelves are also practical for organizing your space and showing off your achievements. I’ve been experimenting with different layouts for my main living area, trying to create a cozy reading nook complete with a bookshelf filled with my favorite in-game reads (if only I had more of them!).
If you're just starting out in Palia's early access, my biggest tip would be to take your time. Don't rush through the quests. Enjoy the journey of discovering new areas, meeting the villagers, and mastering your skills. Focus on gathering resources in your first few days – wood, stone, and wild crops are always useful. Investing in your tools early on will make a big difference. Also, engage with the community! It's an MMO, after all, and I’ve had some really positive interactions with other players, whether it's helping each other find rare resources or just chatting about our favorite discoveries.
The early access phase definitely has its quirks – as expected with any game in development – but the potential is enormous. I’m constantly checking for new announcements about updates and what’s coming next. I’m particularly excited to see more furniture options, especially more unique shelf designs and wall decor, to truly personalize my home. Palia offers such a unique blend of farming, adventure, and social interaction, all wrapped up in a package that feels incredibly comforting. If you’re looking for a new game to sink hours into, especially on your Switch, and you love the idea of building a home and community, I highly recommend giving Palia’s early access a try. It’s a wonderful escape!
