God is Good
Psalm 36:5-9 NASB
"[5] Your mercy, Lord, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
[6] Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Your judgments are like the great deep.
Lord, You protect mankind and animals.
[7] How precious is Your mercy, God!
And the sons of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
[8] They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You allow them to drink from the river of Your delights.
[9] For the fountain of life is with You; In Your light we see light."
We believers, we who have placed our faith in Christ alone for our salvation, walk in the light, we see the light and we are protected from judgement and spiritual death. The mercy of the Lord is indeed precious. He has granted us his righteousness, and his faithfulness will carry us through to our inheritance with Jesus.
Reading Psalm 36:5-9 reminds me deeply of the constant presence and care that God extends to us daily. From personal experience, when I’ve faced uncertainty or fear, recalling that His mercy extends "to the heavens" and His faithfulness "reaches to the skies" has brought tremendous comfort. It’s more than poetic imagery; it’s a powerful assurance that God’s love and protection are vast and unwavering. The verse comparing God's righteousness to the "mountains of God" and His judgments to the "great deep" resonates with me as a reflection of His immense strength and justice. This helps me trust that even when life feels chaotic, God's plans and judgments are profound and purposeful. I’ve also found solace in knowing that the Lord protects not only mankind but all creation, which highlights His care for every detail of life. One particularly touching part of the Psalm is taking refuge "in the shadow of Your wings." This image has reminded me to seek shelter in God’s presence during difficult times, much like a bird shielding its young. It’s a very personal and comforting concept for me, emphasizing God’s tender mercy and care. Drinking "from the river of Your delights" symbolizes the spiritual nourishment we receive when we abide in God's presence. I’ve experienced moments of renewal and peace when meditating on these words, feeling refreshed and guided by His light, which truly illuminates our path. Living by faith means walking in this light daily, trusting in His mercy to protect us from judgment and spiritual death. These verses inspire me to continuously place my faith in Christ alone, remembering that His faithfulness will carry us through every trial toward the inheritance promised in Him. This Psalm strengthens my resolve to live a life centered on God’s grace and to embrace the blessings found in His merciful love.
