Update on the birthday signs! #yardsigns #painting #freehand
I recently embarked on the fun project of creating hand-painted birthday yard signs inspired by classic Winnie the Pooh characters. Starting out, I prepped my backdrop by priming the surface to ensure the paint adheres well and lasts outdoors. For the designs, I laid out Tigger first, carefully mapping his position on the sign before adding colors. Moving on, I painted Pooh’s iconic honey jar, aiming to capture its warm, golden hue but avoiding outlining it at first to keep a natural look. I also brought in Eeyore with his soft purple and cream face, paying attention to blending the colors nicely for a friendly appearance. To add a whimsical touch, I planned to incorporate honey bees fluttering around — these details give the yard sign a lively, interactive feel. I decided to drill small holes to insert bee decorations, which will create a 3D effect and movement in the yard. This whole process was very rewarding and perfect for those who love personalized party decorations. Freehand painting allows room for creativity, and working with familiar characters helps engage children at the celebration. Plus, making yard signs means the decoration is visible to neighbors and passersby, spreading birthday joy beyond the party itself.
