Yesterday my life changed in a way I never imagined.
I’m finally sharing this because I need help, support, prayers, and honestly just a chance to keep my children and myself stable while I figure out how to rebuild after this.
What happened to me was strangulation during domestic violence. The police and forensic team explained that marks often do not fully appear until the second day, but mine showed up almost immediately. I also had petechiae, the tiny red dots in my eyes and mouth caused by pressure and lack of oxygen during strangulation. They were concerned enough to send me for a CT scan because of the risk of internal injury or blood clots. Thankfully my scan came back clear, and hearing that was one of the biggest reliefs of my life.
The reality of hearing professionals tell you “it’s good you’re still here” is something I will never forget.
He is currently in jail and facing prison time. This happened yesterday, so everything feels very raw and overwhelming right now.
I have been a stay-at-home mom, and overnight my world completely changed. I am now trying to figure out how to cover rent, vehicles, bills, food, and stability for my children while also emotionally processing everything that just happened. I do cleaning work, custom shirts, and whatever work I can pick up, and I’m trying my hardest to stay ahead so we do not lose our home or fall apart financially during this transition.
A lot of people have asked how they can help, so I created a GoFundMe to help keep us afloat while I rebuild and get back on my feet.
Anything helps. Donations, shares, prayers, job opportunities, cleaning referrals, or simply helping this reach people who may want to support us truly means more than I can explain right now.
Thank you for reading. Please hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight. 🤍#evetyone #PleaseShare #domesticviolenceawareness https://gofund.me/b40f07e2f
Experiencing domestic violence can be a traumatic turning point, and rebuilding life afterward requires strength and community support. From what I’ve learned talking to survivors and experts, strangulation is particularly dangerous—it often leaves internal injuries that aren’t immediately visible, such as petechiae, which are tiny red dots caused by oxygen deprivation. Medical professionals recommend prompt imaging like CT scans to rule out serious complications, just as this brave mom experienced. Financial and emotional recovery after such trauma is deeply challenging, especially for stay-at-home parents who suddenly must become the sole providers. Many survivors find flexible side jobs—like cleaning services or custom apparel work—that can be managed around parenting. These not only provide income but also help rebuild self-confidence and independence. Community support can make a critical difference. Sharing the story raises awareness about domestic violence and encourages others to donate, offer work referrals, or simply share messages of hope. If you know someone close to you suffering from abuse, offering emotional support and helping them access local resources like shelters, counseling, or legal aid can be life-changing. For anyone reading this, please remember to cherish your loved ones and be aware of the signs of abuse around you. Supporting survivors can come in many forms—from prayers and kind words to concrete actions that help them regain safety and stability during overwhelming times. Together, we can help rebuild lives shattered by violence and give hope for a brighter, safer future.
