The Florida Keys, in particular, offer incredible opportunities for Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit in the flats, or venturing offshore for Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, and Sailfish. I remember one epic day offshore from Islamorada where we landed three Mahi-Mahi – talk about an adrenaline rush! On the East Coast, the Outer Banks of North Carolina are fantastic for surf fishing for Red Drum, especially during the fall migration. And if you head further north, places like Cape Cod in Massachusetts are renowned for Striped Bass. For something completely different, consider the Pacific Northwest. While often associated with freshwater, the coastal waters of Alaska and Washington provide world-class Salmon and Halibut fishing that can fill your freezer and your memory bank. Always check local regulations and acquire the necessary fishing licenses – they vary by state and often by specific bodies of water. For example, Bass fishing is usually best in spring and fall, while many saltwater species have peak seasons in summer.
