✨ 2025 Recap from a Wannabe Homesteader ✨
This year was slower. Messier. A little muddy.
And exactly what my soul needed 🌾
I spent 2025 learning old skills, growing food from seed, and figuring out how to rely less on the store and more on what we can make at home. Not perfect. Not Pinterest-perfect. Just real.
🐮 I spent long hours loving on the animals that heal my heart — the kind of therapy that smells like hay and leaves mud on your boots
🥣 I started making premix pantry staples, because future me deserves easier meals
🌱 I started seeds in the basement for our very first real garden
🪡 I fell headfirst into hand embroidery, stitching custom pet pieces for people I love
🌾 I planted everything outside and watched it grow like crazy — proof that trying is always worth it
🧵 I brought my grandma’s sewing machine home, learned it again, and turned her old pieces into shirts for my ma and me
🥫 I canned around 200 jars (and stopped counting after 75) — shelves full, heart fuller
👜 I learned leatherworking, mostly for handmade wedding pieces that mean more than anything store-bought
🧼 I made tallow lotions and my first batch of cold-process tallow soap
🌵 And I filled our home with even more plants… because 30 cacti clearly wasn’t enough
This year reminded me that slow living isn’t lazy — it’s intentional.
That old skills still matter.
And that building a life, a pantry, and a home happens one small project at a time 🤍
Here’s to growing, learning, and making even more from scratch in 2026 🌾
