💭 What I Eat 🇸🇬 : Sides @ Bugis+

Finally checked out Sides. They opened in June, so still pretty new. We queued about 15–20 minutes and waited another 10 minutes for the food (this was around 5pm). Two groups behind us actually gave up and left because the queue took too long.

We only tried their burgers and wings — Mister ordered the Classic and I went for the Nashville. Mine was basically bun, fried chicken, sauce, and two lonely pickles. His, on the other hand, had a bit more balance with some veg, tomato, secret sauce and honestly… his tasted better than mine 😂.

The waffle fries were decent nothing extraordinary. As for the wings, we ordered 4 pcs. I was expecting 2 winglets and 2 drumlets, but what came was 3 drumlets and only 1 winglet 🥲. I’m definitely more of a wing person… are you team winglet or team drumlet? As a wing person, that was kinda sad. The wings were also on the oily side (we ate them last, and the chilli oil was literally dripping).

The sauce itself wasn’t anything special, though the table next to us was way more adventurous — they ordered multiple sauces, including chocolate BBQ! Yes, 🍫. For reference, sauces start from $2 each.

The food was not bad, but not great either. The whole experience reminded me of Shake Shack, especially with the slightly pricey menu. For what you see in the photos, the bill came up to almost $40.

Rating: maybe not going back.

... Read moreI think it’s worth noting the atmosphere and wait times at Sides in Bugis+ when planning your visit. Even on a weekday around 5pm, we waited close to half an hour because the place is still pretty new and popular. If you’re hungry and short on time, the line might be a dealbreaker. About the burgers, the Classic burger felt more balanced with fresh veggies and a secret sauce that tied everything together nicely. Meanwhile, the Nashville burger was quite simple but could have used more toppings to enhance the flavor. I personally prefer a bit more complexity or fresh crunch in my burger. When it comes to wings, I was disappointed to get mostly drumlets instead of the winglets I was hoping for. Plus, they were quite oily which made them a bit heavy by the time we ate them last. If you love wings, you might want to ask about the mix before ordering. A fun highlight was spotting the adventurous sauces other diners tried – including a chocolate BBQ sauce! Although the sauces start at $2 each, trying a new flavor could be an exciting addition to your meal. Overall, I felt the quality was decent but didn’t fully justify the price. We spent nearly $40 on a small meal, and while it reminded me of Shake Shack, I’d say it’s a one-time try unless they improve. If you’re craving burgers and wings at Bugis+, it’s good to manage expectations on both taste and waiting time.
