Jesus is Our Teacher!

We’ve been focusing on who Jesus is, so we can understand His importance in our lives. Today, we’re talking about one of His largest attributes, that directly relates to His importance in our lives — His role as a teacher.

When we think of a teacher, we tend to focus on the teachers we had through our time in school, a temporary person in our lives, meant to guide us for that year to give us valuable information in our scholarly careers. This understanding gives us a bit of understanding into Jesus, but we need to dive deeper into the culture to truly see the picture and importance of Jesus as our teacher.

Teacher translates into Hebrew as “Rabbi,” which at the time was a title, for those who knew and taught the Word of God. Specifically at the time of Jesus, the Old Testament, Mosaic Law, and everything that encompassed. These teachers would teach and impact you from the moment you were born, whether you realized it or not.

- They guided parents into understanding the word to raise their children.

- They taught the Word to adults so they could form their houses around the commandments of God.

All of this with the intention of guiding people to reunification with the Father.

Doesn’t this bring a better understanding to Jesus as a teacher in our lives than the societal, worldly definition of teacher? Jesus isn’t temporary. He’s there for every moment in your life.

As a child, He cares about you, and has great importance in you. We see this importance in Matthew 19:13-15. He states: “Let the Children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” (14). He places a focus on the innocence, humility, and complete faith of a child and how important it is to the Kingdom of God. He shares this importance, in essence saying, “Be like these children!!” He sees such a great importance in every child as they will grow the Kingdom of Heaven if they are given the opportunity to learn about him (Proverbs 22:6) and accept Him.

As an adult, or as you grow affected by the world and societal expectations, He teaches and guides you to remain faithful and like Him. When diving into His Word, we see sermons such as the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5), we see countless parables, and we have a gift sent from him, known as the Holy Spirit. Through these stories and accounts of His word, He continues to teach us on things we struggle through, or educate us on things the world may be attempting to get us to focus on. And! He gifted us the Holy Spirit, the one who helps guide us. He gave us an unfailing resource that helps us understand and feel the comfort, presence, and guidance of Jesus himself.

We can use the resource our great and powerful Teacher has given us, the Holy Spirit, to understand his guidance and expectations for us to live eternally with Him in Heaven.

He teaches us how to stay faithful in Him, how to focus on Him through the hard times. He gives us traits to focus on, the knowledge to discern what is from Him, all in the motivation to remain fruitful and connected to the vine (John 15:1-11). He gives us the road map to mastery — a curriculum if you will!

We all have those lessons that are hard for us to learn, or those we do not want to learn because they disconnect us from what the flesh wants. Jesus is our teacher, and we have to trust in Him.

Unlike your 3rd grade teacher, he is not temporary. He is eternal, through all phases and transitions of your life. He is there through what you’ve been through, what you’re going through, and what you WILL go through.

🧐🧐Big Question🧐🧐

What lesson is Jesus trying to teach you right now? Is it hard for you to listen and understand His teaching?

... Read moreThe concept of Jesus as our teacher goes beyond the earthly experience of temporary educators. In Hebrew culture, the term “Rabbi” denotes a spiritual teacher who imparts divine wisdom and guidance throughout a person's entire life. Jesus, known as Rabbi to His disciples, embodies this eternal guidance, offering direction not only through His spoken teachings but also through the invaluable gift of the Holy Spirit. From childhood, Jesus emphasizes the importance of innocence, humility, and faith, as highlighted in Matthew 19:13-15, where He invites children to come to Him, signifying their value in the Kingdom of Heaven. This early nurturing lays the foundation for a lifelong relationship with God. Proverbs 22:6 further supports this by encouraging the training of children in the way they should go, ensuring their spiritual growth and growth of the Kingdom. As believers mature, Jesus’ teachings, including the Sermon on the Mount and numerous parables, provide wisdom and ethical frameworks for navigating life’s challenges. The Holy Spirit acts as a continuous guide, helping followers discern truth, remain faithful, and cultivate Christlike traits amid worldly pressures. John 15:1-11 describes Jesus as the vine and His followers as branches, underscoring the necessity of remaining connected to Him to bear spiritual fruit. His role is that of an eternal teacher whose curriculum involves life's trials and lessons designed to shape character and deepen faith. The passage Matthew 11:29 captures His gentle invitation: “Take my yoke upon you… for I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” In essence, Jesus calls believers to trust Him as a teacher whose guidance transcends all earthly temporalities. This relationship is foundational for Christian living, spiritual growth, and ultimately, eternal life with God. Reflecting on this, it is important to ask oneself: What lesson is Jesus currently teaching you? How can you embrace His teachings even when they challenge personal desires or societal norms? Understanding Jesus as our eternal Rabbi offers a richer, culturally rooted appreciation of His role. It encourages believers to pursue a lifelong journey of learning, faith, and transformation anchored in divine wisdom and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The image features a body of water with a pier under a cloudy sky, overlaid with text titled "My Dance Teacher Hexed Me: Why Vengeance Is For God." The text describes a deliverance session revealing a hex from a dance teacher, involving 11 demons and a Christian seer's vision.
Against a backdrop of water and a pier, text explains how demons from a hex affected the author's health, beauty, and self-esteem, causing hair loss, appetite issues, extra hair growth, and distorted self-perception, with the teacher's intent being "To make you not see your beauty."
Over a waterscape with a pier, text describes the author's initial anger and thought to "send it back" after discovering the hex, momentarily forgetting Christian beliefs during a deliverance session with a Christian seer.
