Movie Review: Rustin (2023)

The biographical film Drama, directed by George C.Wolfe, tells the story of Bayard Rustin, an activist behind the historic march on Washington in 1963. Despite facing both racism and racism, he remained so dedicated that he was able to successfully gather hundreds of thousands to the rally that led to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

"Powerful and inspiring" is probably the two words that summarize the story in this movie. Even throughout the movie, it talks about inequality, racial differences or sexual orientations that can't be expressed, but the conclusion at the end is like what we've been waiting for, that the reason these activists do is not because of their reputation, not because of their power, but what every human being should enjoy, that is, their "fundamental rights," their waking rights, not worrying about when they encounter danger, their right to use the public without discrimination, or their right to peaceful expression.

The favorite thing about this is that Colman Domingo's performance played so well, his facial expressions, gestures, emotions, words and feelings burst out, leading us to believe that he wasn't just playing Rustin, he was really Rustin.

The other part that I like is the songs that come in. They are more powerful and work than I thought. At first I thought they were put in to entertain. But when I see them, they act like the words of the characters in the story that I want to say, but I can't speak or have no chance to speak. I personally like the songs sung at the march. They are simple but very powerful.

The part that may be a bit of a problem for people who don't know history, this movie may be confusing, because the story is so fast that it may not catch up, because it starts in the 1950s first, and then goes over until 1961, but it doesn't diminish the fun, just a little confusing.

Overall, it's considered well done. It looks over, it's inspiring very well. There are several unforgettable monologues. The movie is not very stretchy, it fits. Anyone who is looking for a biographical movie to watch is recommended.
