Homeschool Theme Day 6
This Friday we did “Things That Go!” I was particularly eager to do this one because it involved something my son is currently working on in therapy which is learning safety demands. (Stop, slow down, come here) He had a lot of fun on our field trip and both him and my 6 month old enjoyed the car stop and go game on my diy strip of road.
I have been slowly attempting to introduce left and right so the steering wheel activity I created was a great new way to show him the concept in an engaging way. All you need for that is a piece of cardboard (mine came from an Amazon box) a paper plate and a metal fastener like the ones you find in folders. I painted the steering wheel design and put left and right on the bottom corners.
We happened to have a bunch of black poster board so I drew the shape of a car and cut it out before taping paper plates to the bottom as wheels before getting out some crayola paint for him to explore. He enjoyed finger painting himself more than the car though unfortunately haha
For our field trip we went to a local farmers market where they have a playground and various activities one of which involves lots of construction style trucks. My kiddo wasn’t wild about the sensation of the rocks so admittedly this one was short lived.
