✨Alice and WonderLand AU✨

Hey creative souls! You saw a glimpse of my Alice in Wonderland AU sketches, and I'm so thrilled to dive a little deeper into my process and ideas. This AU has been a passion project, really sparked by Avril Lavigne's 'Alice' song – that raw, edgy vibe just clicked with me for a darker, more whimsical Wonderland. It's truly inspiring how music can ignite a whole new artistic vision! When I started sketching, I knew I wanted to bring some fresh faces into this classic tale. That’s where characters like Max Goof and Bradley Uppercrust III came into my vision for this twisted Wonderland. Imagining them in this setting, maybe Max as a bewildered Alice figure, navigating the madness, or Bradley as a mischievous Mad Hatter, pulling strings behind the scenes, opens up so many fun possibilities! It’s all about taking familiar characters and seeing how their personalities would twist and turn in Wonderland’s chaos. I love exploring how their existing traits could be exaggerated or subverted in such an unpredictable world. One of my favorite parts has been designing my Cheshire Cat inspired character. I wanted something playful yet a little unsettling, just like the original. You might have noticed the prominent cat ears, that iconic wide smile, and a distinct striped tail in my sketches – these were key elements I focused on to capture that enigmatic Cheshire vibe. I even played with outfits, thinking about a crop top and shorts to give a modern, rebellious edge to this classic character, making it feel fresh and contemporary. The 'ARE YOU LOST?' text in my sketchbook was a little nod to its mysterious nature, always questioning and observing. For those of you looking to create your own Alice in Wonderland themed art or fanart, I’d say start by thinking about what you love about the story. Is it the whimsical creatures, the bizarre logic, or the dark undertones? Then, think about how you can put your own spin on it. Don't be afraid to mix in characters from other universes, just like I'm doing with Max and Bradley. My process often starts with loose sketches in my sketchbook, capturing poses and expressions. Sometimes I'll just doodle small details like a pocket watch necklace or a blue caterpillar sticker on the page to build the atmosphere. A sketchbook is your best friend for these kinds of projects – it’s a safe space for all your WIPs (work in progress) and experimental drawings, a place where you can freely explore without judgment. It’s a journey, not just a destination! I'm still very much in the early stages, refining these ideas and enjoying the journey of bringing this AU to life.
