Stuff Stockings for my In Laws
My husband and I are hosting his family for Christmas for the first time, and I realized on the 23rd that my in-laws had only brought stockings for the kids, not for themselves - obviously, this was completely unacceptable so we had to make a last-minute trip to Target and Trader Joe's for some treats for them!
When I brought these out on Christmas morning, my mother-in-law told us that she'd actually never had a Christmas stocking before - apparently, her mother decided that stockings were decorative and sewed the tops closed! Because of this, she always made sure her kids had full stockings growing up, but I come from a family where the grown-ups get stockings too, and I was so glad I got to treat her with some little sweets and gifts this Christmas!
