i learned a few phrases before i went (highly recommend you learn about the culture or try to learn some phrases when traveling to a different country) it lets people know that you’re respectful, open-minded, and adaptive. you’ll make friends this way and even some store discounts 😊
i think my biggest culture shock there was the fact that you enter a public onsen naked AND HOW CLEAN japan’s streets were

whether it was for ordering food, needing directions, or a language barrier; the people in japan were kind to me 🥹
